I was a bit less surprised to see people behaving badly in general audiences for large Hollywood blockbusters, but it was a bit mind boggling to see people behaving badly at TIFF festival screenings, where tickets routinely cost $25+. The worst one I witnessed was someone in the front of the theatre clearly browsing their phone (I could see their phone halfway across the theatre) for something like 20-30 minutes, at a screening where the Director, and multiple cast members and producers were present.

I hate to say the quiet part out loud, but you don't have people pulling out phones and acting out at good movies.
